Today was a necessary transition between the fantasyland world of Bears and beers and the dull reality of RDA and OCLC. Originally my plans were a bit more ambitious, but I scaled them back to laundry and light gardening. The laundry is still in the dryer. The gardening was a trip to Gethsemane for some blooms for the hanging baskets.
monshu is keeping it simple this year, with begonias and marigolds plus the wirevine and ivy from last year.
We had a couple marigolds left over so I potted them up on their own. I also had second thoughts about putting the black-eyed susans where I'd originally planned, since they'll need water and it's hard to sprinkler, so for now they're in a terracotta pot out back. I also transplanted the cocozelle seedling, placing someplace where it hopefully won't get uprooted like last year. I would've put the nasturtiums in as well, but I forgot it's recommended to soak them overnight, so for now we just have one long window box of dirt.
I've been meaning to make another food post to talk about our return visit to Eataly for the Old Man's birthday. While there, we dropped $15 on taleggio and fontina for a pizza bianca. There was enough for two, actually, and this evening we snarfed them both up like nothing at all. I quickly nicknamed the pies "turamisù" ("stop me up") for their presumed effect on my digestion. After that, we retreated downstairs and watched Galaxy Quest on another glitchy disc from NetFlix.
