It doesn't matter that I slept in until ten; getting to bed after midnight always leaves me out of sorts. Then, wallowing in the luxury of having six more hours to prepare for the arrival of our guest than I'd previously expected, I decided to attempt a simple recipe for Apfelbettelmann. Everything came together neatly and we had a leisurely hour of dinner before I hurried downstairs for an absolute doozy of a World Series game. Unfortunately, the stress of it combined with my compromised emotional state made me far more testy with my brother than I'd hoped to be, but I'll have a lot of chances over the next several days to redeem myself. In the meantime, he's sacked out on the tv room floor and I should follow his example (albeit with a mattress under me rather than carpeting over concrete).
