Sweet as pie
Poor
monshu! He's still suffering pretty bad from overstraining his thighs earlier in the week. I am glad he's exercising again, but as he said, the trouble with restarting is that you're liable to think you can get back to where you were before sooner than is feasible. Other than that, his "dry run for retirement" was a smashing success. Amazing how much more energy you have when it's not being leached away by office nonsense. He made two different curries (one lamb and one chicken) and on Sunday he baked a ricotta cake with lemon zest and apples that is to die for. (Much lighter than it sounds.)
On Monday your man from Selby (the Viking sword wielder) told us about Wensleydale apple pie, which we will definitely have to try if we can ever locate the cheese. (Apparently, Caerphilly might make an acceptable substitute.) We were talking about our love things sweet and English, from sticky toffee pudding to Sarah Millican. (Well, "love" is too strong, but I did agree she's got the most adorable Geordie accent.) I've tracked down a recipe and I'm hoping he'll Friend me on FB so I can submit to him for approval.
