I waited almost two weeks to report my credit card missing, but I had a really stupid reason: I'd already had it replaced barely two months prior for the first time in about a decade because of some suspicious charges. It wasn't so much the annoyance of changing my default payment info again on all those websites (although it is annoying) but coming across as a screw-up to a bunch of complete strangers who couldn't care less. Thank you, thousands of years of psychosocial programming, for really preparing me for life in an anonymous atomised urban consumer society.
