The saddest thing about the whole affair is that I watch those videos of police corralling protesters and what strikes me most is the breakdown of communication. There must've been some way for the police to deliver instructions and the protesters to express dissatisfaction without antagonising each other like this. What would've made the difference? More training? Fewer officers in riot gear and more in everyday blues? I don't know.
