High and dry
Today
monshu raised the possibility that he might be asked to stay through the weekend at his conference, which makes me all the happier that we were able to spend the day together today. There's been a lot of craziness at his work lately that I'm not at liberty to talk about, but the fallout could be quite disruptive to our cozy status quo. On the bright side, being required to assume greater responsibility for household affairs could only be good for me from a personal growth point-of-view.
We didn't do anything special, we just made a trip downtown to shop for clothes and have dinner with Nuphy. I surprised everyone by spending more than $100 on brand new half-price linen shirts, myself most of all with my eagerness to wear them. And we completely lucked out where the rain was concerned with the worst cloudburst coinciding perfectly with our stop at L'Appetito for a snack. Dinner was at Indian Garden on Ontario, which has spiffed up its menu a bit. It cheers my heart to see Chicagoans becoming such sophisticated consumers that a simple list of North Indian standards doesn't cut it any more, even eight miles from Devon.
Stupidly, I got the time wrong for Germany vs Australia, but given that it was such a crushing rout I don't feel too disappointed. When it comes to that level of international sports, I really want to see competitive play (although that doesn't exclude the occasional total boner like Green's gift to us yesterday). Instead, I ended up watching the second half of The last days of disco again and basically marinating in my incredible good fortune.
