Sigh of relief

Being not very news junkie these days, it was this morning before I heard of Wooden Al's decision not to run for (re)election.

That wasn't what produced the sigh of relief. It was that, in the short list of Democratic contenders that's been bandied about so far, the name Dick "Ma, that man has no eyebrows!" Gephardt does not appear.

Let's hope it stays that way.

I cringed to read his name mentioned as one of the "other likely candidates" in today's New York Times. I base my dislike solely on the brows, too. How shallow!

You are reading a different list than me. The news stories I have read definitely list Gephardt as some one who is on the short list and was likely to run regardless of Al's decision or not. I'm not saying my list is right or anything, just that I definitely saw him listed among the first 4 or 5 or so they listed in what I was reading (shortly after Lieberman and Kerry).

Crap!

I base my dislike firmly on his knee-jerk protectionism and my deep-seated distrust, as a Missouri native, of all national political figures from that state.
