Men and the Moon
I really need to get back on the Gaelic wagon. Today my excuse is that I slept like crap last night. It wasn't just from getting to bed late after the supermoon eclipse either. For whatever reason (probably related to having a light early dinner which didn't soak up all the damn acid in my stomach), I had horrible reflux starting about 5 a.m. I almost went outside to catch the "moonset" I'd heard about the previous evening, but thought better of it.
The eclipse wasn't as impressive as the moonrise, but that may be partly because of where I was stationed for each. I started out at the shore at Loyola, which was pleasant enough at first but I began to get chilly and annoyed by the nerd girls near me playing insipid pop on their laptop. (Though I will grant them this: when one asked her friend for requests and I called out "Yellow Moon" by the Nevilles, she gamely played. But had the sense not to ask aloud for more requests after that.)
So I went home, changed, and continued on to
vianegativa's rooftop. He wasn't there (apparently there's been a falling out among roommates), but I enjoyed hanging out with the two couples who were. Clouds covered most of the action, but parted during the climax. I would've been happy to linger for the denouement, but a couple of the guys had early shifts and the party broke up.
All in all, it was a surprisingly good end to a very difficult day. But more on that later.
