Morbidly trivial
I keep meaning to post about the great weekend I had--about the trip to Logan Square, the lavish dinners at Longman & Eagle and Ombra, the party at SoFo, the Arts Fest both days--but then I go and read the latest developments in the Michael Brown case or my friend
aadroma's struggles dealing with his partner's sudden death and all the savour goes out the idea. I don't regret one bit the actual enjoyment--if anything, the reminders that death is never far make me more happy I got out and spent time with people I cherish--but I feel uncomfortable going on about it. Completely irrational, but there it is.
Besides, I should be tidying up downstairs so the Old Man can do a thorough job of cleaning up tomorrow. We just received unofficial confirmation (thanks,
bunj!) that Mom is coming up this weekend to spend two nights with us. Hopefully, it will go better than the last time. Insisting she use her own laptop will help, I'm sure. Also, she'll be gone all day Saturday at a quilt show in Michigan. Of course, this means she probably won't arrive back here until some ungodly hour, but at least we're not trying to keep dinner warm for her.
