Poor
monshu! He finally seems to be recovering from his bout of tummy trouble. After our big day yesterday he had an unfortunate relapse, ultimately spending almost the entire day in bed. He says he woke up around two in the afternoon, realised there was nothing for dinner, and ran to the storm to buy me pork chops. (His dinner was a humble can of soup.)
I was fortunate to make it home before the derecho and find the famer's market still going. The bread guy told me they had thought of shutting down (having been burned last year and watched their tents blown across the street) but the forecasts weren't predicting rain for another couple of hours yet.
However, a storm cell formed in advance of the front and it began pouring here around quarter after 7. I'd gone out front to watch the clouds roll in and noticed that the storm drain on our corner was completely clogged, so I went and got a garden rake to clear it out with. Waiting for the first drops to fall, I saw some dudebro on the roof of the building across the street with his arms outstretched toward the sky. Later, when the downpour was going in earnest, the maintenance man there came out with a pole and jabbed it into the huge brown puddle on the corner trying to clear their drain.
Now the second wall of storms is hitting. It would probably be a good idea to shut down the computer again; the lights have already flickered a couple of times. The cat is no fool; he's been downstairs hiding in the closet for the last three and a half hours. Maybe I should joi
