Rubber, meet road
Yesterday a co-worker asked me what it was like having ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
monshu retired and I responded that it was too soon to tell. Thanks to an unprecedented conjunction of holidays and snow days, I've only worked two non-consecutive days out of the last nineteen. But if today is exemplary of our developing routine, than it bodes well. I didn't need to tell the GWO that I was poorly-slept and unable to focus on anything beyond getting my sorry ass to work; he picked up on it right way and made accommodations. It felt like a dance with someone so expert that not only does he know all the steps, he anticipates your missteps and makes allowances for them before you've even lifted your foot.
My jests about coming home to leftovers in the fridge and him playing away on the computer have proved false as well, at least in the short term. In fact, I've noticed an improvement insofar as not having to fight traffic to get home in time gives him the leisure to slice and chop things in a manner "fit for a Japanese princess". We got one final meal out of the Christmas beef yesterday in the form of Fleischsalat, artfully presented along repurposed white beans. His creativity will have to give out sometime, but I'll enjoy the benefits of it while I still can.
