Into the fall
I don't feel particularly grumpy today in general, but for some reason the 9/11 anniversary shit going around is getting on my tits so much that I found myself quoting this post by
nihilistic_kid on Facebook. (Of course, a better course of action would simply be not to look at Facebook at all, but that ship has already sailed clean out of view.) I actually have two friends on Facebook who lost someone close (the same someone, as it turns out) that day. One has been posting pictures and clips, the other hasn't said a word.
I was mistaken earlier when I described last Saturday as "fall-like". Really, this is quite typical weather for Chicago in summertime, it's just that with the damn Missouri summer we had this year we didn't recognise it for what it was. Being out on the deck has been phenomenal, despite the frequent bouts of drama from next door. (Last night Scooter found a cold empty 40 oz. beer bottle in the trash and hit the roof.) And now that the clematis is past its peak and dropping petals right and left, its fragrance is everywhere.
