Cloudless and calm
I had a couple ranty posts in my head for today, but I managed to vent the outrage elsewhere. (Special credit goes to
monshu for being a willing sounding board.) I did get into a few dust-ups online but managed to extract myself almost immediately. I'm learning.
Neither of us felt like cooking tonight so the Old Man took us out to Masouleh. It was a lovely walk; the weather has been either damp and overcast or cool and cloudless and today it was the latter. I saw my first open flag on Monday and now it's like someone waved a huge wand over all the buds; this morning there were a dozen blooming in the garden at work and we must've seen four or five different kinds on the way to the restaurant. The first alliums, too--just about the time the chives are coming into bloom in the little plot out back.
I'm struggling with my reading. Thirty pages to go in Bovary and I just needed to take a break, so I picked up a tedious Brian Moore novel that I'm finishing out of bloody-mindedness. Sixty pages left and at least something is happening plot-wise even if the characters and setting are as unconvincing as ever. I also picked up Le Fanu again for some reason. With any luck, I'll see the backside of all three by the weekend and be able to plunge into something more intriguing.
