Winding down
Today I thought I'd make it to the beach again. It was a promising day, I was up and breakfasted before ten (no pointing and laughing, please). But I was sluggish. It was 2 p.m. before I left the house to go to the housewarming at the BearSkyPad. By the time I got there, my host was already potted. Never mind, the guests were mostly quite friendly and willing to introduce themselves. Plus I knew two of the couples attending, so I immediately had people to chat with.
I ended up spending a fair bit of time out on the balcony, which was fine when there was a windbreak of bears at the north end but quickly grew chilly otherwise. Most dismaying, my repeated mentions of being chilled did not prompt anyone to come forward and volunteer to be a human Snuggie. Also, judging from the amount of nuts, chips, and Chex Mix I wolfed down, not having something more substantial to eat before showing up was a mistake.
It was all very enjoyable in a mellow big-boys-sitting-around kind of way and when next I craned my head around the south wall of the balcony to take a gander at Hollywood Beach, it was thinning out. The lake breeze was just a bit too brisk, I imagine, and the sun was losing out to the clouds. Even waiting for the bus, I found my freshly-ironed linen shirt (Thanks, Hon!) a bit light for the weather.
