The merry month of May
I have only just returned from snipping chive stems and sorrel leaves for a chiffonade for the yellow split pea soup I made. We'll be having that with house made pita chips (sprinkled liberally with ajwain, natch). Meanwhile,
monshu has arisen from his slumber in time to broil the filet mignon and prepare the green beans. A simple meal, but perfect for a slightly chill spring day.
After eight the bears start arriving for pre-Touché cocktails. I hope the Old Man will linger a bit. He still seems somewhat out of it--it was a brutal week for him--but we have good friends like Diego and Uncle Betty coming early expressly to share a bit of his company. I'm not sure if I'll head over with the gang myself; I had a deep tissue massage this afternoon, which I know will irritate my lower back, making long hours standing on a the concrete floor of a leather bar a poor choice of occupation.
At least there's not much slated for tomorrow. Better relax while I can--next weekend starts on Thursday and then doesn't let up! And the weekend after that: Toronto.
