Nuair a dhúisigh Gregor Samsa as taibhreamhaibh míshuaimhneacha maidin áirithe, fuair sé féin claochlaithe ar a leabaidh go míolra anchúinseach.
I continue to read Kafka and study Irish--two pastimes that overlap only when I make them.

ETA: Oh, and on the off chance someone is interested, the Kafka I'm reading is the short stories that were collected after his death. (Thank you again, Max Brod, for ignoring your good friend's final request.) That's why they're nothing anyone has heard of before. I suppose if I had ambition, I'd write capsule reviews in the tradition of [livejournal.com profile] princeofcairo's Tour de Lovecraft. But he's a writer whereas I'm just a shmuck with a blog, so an occasional aperçu is probably the best you can hope for. For instance: Der Jäger Gracchus makes much more sense the second time around. I'm not sure whether that's because I'm twenty years closer to death or if I've just gotten a better handle on the author's themes in the interim.
