This is why we can't have nice things
Ever since I started working here *mumble* years ago, we've had a leaky roof. Every time there was a bad thunderstorm, you'd wait to hear which collection had gotten the worst of it. Sometimes, we were even pulled in to help. I thought all that had come to an end last year, when at long last they sprung for a complete reroofing. So I was surprised to hear at the departmental meeting that we'd just lost roughly 300 volumes to the latest soaking. Then I found out it wasn't water that was the culprit, it was antifreeze.
Pink antifreeze.
See, the top floors aren't right under the roof, there's actually a "secret" top top floor where Facilities Management stores all sorts of crap. Including, apparently, pink antifreeze. According to my boss, "Balzac got hit bad". Which, naturally, led to all kinds of jokes among my co-workers about how to deal with your wet, wrinkly, pink Balzac. Ah, how I missed them!
