It's been quite a while since I had a weekend this full of performance! Before the opera Saturday night, Nuphy was raving about the live performance of Guy Maddin's Brand on the Brain! (see [livejournal.com profile] princeofcairo's take here) so we ended up making plans to see the Sunday matinee.

I thought I'd be spoken for, but [livejournal.com profile] monshu's Buddhist Teaching Curse is as active as ever. ExpandExcursus I: The GWO's Curse )

So this is how I found myself having a mediocre dinner with just Nuphy at My Thai and suddenly free on the following afternoon, since [livejournal.com profile] monshu no longer had any intention of coming down for the other lecture we were slated to attend. We firmed up plans after the performances over tea and brandy at Russian Tea Time and just over twelve hours later I was rounding the corner of Byron and Southport just in time to catch up to [livejournal.com profile] monshu's neighbour and his Ecuadorean boyfriend on an ingredient-hunting trip.

The boys dropped me off at the theatre where Nuphy was first in a growing line and I strode up to his side just before they surrounded us with velvet rope. As I was filling in Nuphy on the fun at the store, I spied a vision of bearish loveliness that derailed my train of thought. Was he coming this way? No--wait--he's turning into that pub. No! Come here! What's that? Someone is coming out to talk to him and his friends? Is it? Yes, it's Dutes!
