CNY in STL: Part 1
Well, we lost another one: My newest nephew is now imbued with the Holy Spirit. He has rejected Satan and all his works by meta-proxy. (His nominal godparents couldn't make the trip up from Texas, so my mother and brother stood in for them, swearing on his behalf to abjure sin and all temptations of the Evil One.)
But I'm smelling success in the battle for rebranding. (I may have mentioned that we have collectively rejected the trendoid name with no family history that my sister chose for little ITI and have sought to supplant it with one of our own chosing by force majeure.)
bunj made a mighty contribution when he brought the bag he bought of "I LIKE IKE" buttons and foisted them on attendees. Selling ITI's paternal grandfather on wearing one was especially satisfying.
However, the last mile is the mother, who is understandably more attached to the legal name than anyone else. But tonight she was telling the story of his conception, and she distinctly said, "When I got pregnant with Ike..." Ah, victory within our grasp!
