Truly thankful
For a straight Thanksgiving,
spookyfruit's and
welcomerain's celebration wasn't too shabby. There were two turkeys (the second better than the first), we got eat off the good china, and the football was in another room entirely where us homosexuals could pretend to complete ignorance of its existence. And my headache this morning is testimony to just how freely the wine was flowing.
No one seemed to mind that I was the second-last to arrive, having spent the morning furiously finishing up the red cabbage and cooking up another batch of sweet potatoes in order to be sure to have enough. Enough people ate of the first that I felt justified for having thrown out the first batch and the second came out for commendation during the meal. Kudos to Fr Aelred for his recipe.
I would've liked to have hung around longer, but poor kitty was still waiting for her Thanksgiving feast out in the marshy wilds of Portage Park. I'm grateful to
mollpeartree,
kaynorr, and
princeofcairo for waiting patiently to accompany me on the first half of my bus trip, and particularly to the last of these for sharing the results of his humanzee research research.
In return, here's the fantastic song parody to the tune of "Supercallifragilisticexpialidocious" that I mentioned during the pre-feast chattering. (Thanks to
that_dang_otter for the link.)
