Tour de Farce, A weekend extravaganza in three parts: Part the First

Part 1: I am an idiot

Friday I slept in due to a minor power failure that spoofed my alarm clock, but I had a fantastic dream about being some kind of mediaeval superhero cat-person. That night I was supposed to meet monshu at Big Chicks for a drink followed by dinner out. Everything went smoothly--I even left work early!--until I got within two el stops of my destination and realised I'd left my cell phone plugged in to a recharger at work. D'oh! I wasn't comfortable leaving it there because (1) who knows if it would be there when I got back, with or without hundreds of dollars in calls to a foreign country made on it and (2) I knew I'd need it on a weekend when I had family in town. So my man finished up his cocktail as I sat there ansily and then we cabbed it back to work. On the plus side, I got to show him around my office, which he's never seen in the four years I've been working here. Also, dinner at Dixie Kitchen--in the outdoor seating on one of the most gorgeous nights in recent memory.

My original plans for the evening consisted of working on some files at monshu's, but he ruefully informed me that the outtage had confused it badly and it couldn't find the external hard drive which he uses for backup. He's going to try fixing that today. So I just killed time for a while until I could fall asleep.
