Kosher wine and Long Island iced tea
My neighbourhood made front page in the Trib today because of the battle to keep the local queer pub open. I'm hopeful; Jimmy's in Hyde Park was within 100' of both a school and a church and managed to get a variance. I swear, this ordinance has got to be one of the silliest, most arbitrary parts of a state (and municipal) law code that's riddled with sillieness and arbitrariness. If a pub is an asset to the community, who cares where it's located? If it's a problem, there are more than enough other remedies for shutting it down. After all, the police seem to have no problem harrassing law-abiding establishements out of business when they want to.
