Christmas in September
Today,
monshu and I "touched up" the living room. That is to say, we painted all the areas that had been taped over before, repainted as many bald spots and we could find, and gave a second coat to high-visibility areas that had been hastily painted when everyone was getting tired and sloppy--which turned out to be both sides of the beam separating dining area from living area and the entire front hall. The last place in particular now looks radiant. All that's in that room is to touch up the GRW one last time and shift the furniture into place.
As long as we had the Parchment out, we decided to tackle the back hall. This meant that touching up the bedroom and painting the sills didn't get done, but it's all cleaned, taped, and prepped, so I can do that some night this week. I'm still learning what's a doable project load for a weekend. We both came back to his place hungry, sore, and incredibly horny. (His fault, I contend, for painting in nothing but his boxers. Do you know how often they end up at eye level when you're painting the same space?) Happily, we were able to do something to satisfy all three needs.
And, if that wasn't joy enough, a painting I bought off eBay arrived and looks perfect in the back hall. Plus, he got back a mess of seals he commissioned. It was like Christmas, opening all the little boxes, exclaiming, and showing each other what was in them. I have my dharma name! And the gift-giving continued with
monshu going into the Closet From Hell and offering me any of the objets he didn't have room to display, starting with a striking iron ikebana vase he thinks would look perfect in the entryway.
