Closing time
After all that upset and worry, the actual event was anticlimactic. But anticlimatic is good, right? The only snags were (1) the sellers forgot to bring proof of insurance for the lender (we got my broker to fax a copy of the document I'd faxed him--I would've brought my copy to the closing, but everyone said that it wasn't my responsibility) and (2) the title company had to figure out how to pay me the credit for fixing the electrical in such a way as to avoid making it obvious to the lender that's what they were doing. Because otherwise the lender would be sad, or something. All in all, the process was more straightforward than it originally seemed, but there are still some awfully arcane aspects.
