A year gone

muckefuckYesterday was a good day. It had occurred to me recently that the anniversary of Mozhu's widowhood was coming up so I asked her if she had any plans for the yortsayt. I didn't expect her to reply that the people she wanted to spend it with most were me and ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
monshu. The only thing I had planned was my biweekly gameday, so I immediately let my pals know that I wouldn't be able to make it. She came over in the afternoon and the Old Man led us in a Buddhist memorial ceremony he'd planned at her request. Later, he put together a dinner of baked salmon and scalloped potatoes. Then we sat in the front room and just chatted away until she decided she was keeping us up too late and gently made her exit. Today she wrote me the most beautiful thank you note in which she compared us favourably to her departed husband. That's easily the highest (and most undeserved) praise I've gotten all year.
