At Lyric, he was still able to rise above the orchestra better than almost anyone else in the cast, but he doesn't have his high notes any more."
I hadn't seen Meistersinger before last night, so I was thinking the same thing during the first couple of acts. When we got to the third act, which is all about Sachs' contributions to Art over the course of his life, I was glad that Morris was in that role. That being said, I think it is a perfect last role for the man.
