Oh, there's also my favourite catalan word related to fireplaces: clemàstecs, which are "the chains you use to hold cauldrons over fire to cook", or something of the like.

Yeah, I love that word so much I almost included it anyway even though I haven't for the other languages. Catalan does seem to have a surprising number of terms for "crap that hangs over the fire"--andura, calderís, cremalla, mossa, rodella, serra, etc. Another term I wished I could've worked in somehow was "calderet de ruc". Saps què és?

No en tinc la més remota idea... Recorda que jo sóc un osset de ciutat (més aviat de suburbis de classe obrera majorment immigrant d'altres racons d'Espanya). I les coses de pagès, les vaig conèixer abans en gallec que en català :)
