My home health maintenance organisation has a staff of two

I left for work this morning droopy as last night's lettuce leaf, supported only by air so humid it was structural. All day was a struggle keep my eyes open and my mood up; on the ride home, I was too sleepy to even read. But after an hour with [livejournal.com profile] monshu, I was practically dancing about. In fact, just as his droopiness was peaking, on the deck after dinner, I called him to our little garden plot with the words, "Come over here and look!"

"At what?"

"Just come and look!"

"Oh, wow."

The autumn-blooming clematis is coming into its own. I noticed a few buds a week ago; tonight it was crowned with a profusion of them. I told a couple of houseguests two days ago that it would be spreading its perfume "by the end of the month"; I may have been wildly pessimistic.

I can't think what the reason is for such a turnaround if not him waiting on the porch for me as I trudge through the gate (and the cat bounding up to me as I come through the door). As I was telling my old friend Lupe late in the evening, "Domestic bliss is not overrated." And I shared with him my worries about my friends and family who don't have that. He told me that's why he's going to build a castle with the money he gets from suing his parents where everyone can come and stay.

If this plant has a pink variety - then I've just discovered the name of the plant that also just started flowering in the last day or so. Thank you for the ID.
