Boyfriend Brain Teasers: Cleaning day

There was a certain edge to the GWO's voice tonight when he reminded me to have the kitchen cleaned up because the putzfrauen (bzw. sprzÄ…taczki) are coming tomorrow and any dishes we leave, they'll wash up for us.

Do they charge us extra for this? No, it's a fixed fee for the visit no matter what.

(Yeah, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, too.)

If it were me, here's what it would mean:

Time spent doing dishes is time they're not spending doing other cleaning that might, in the scheme of things, be more difficult and unpleasant.

Like, I try to straighten up when someone's coming to clean, because it means they don't spend time on that (which is pretty easy for me) and they have more time to do a nice thorough job on the sweeping and vacuuming and scrubbing (which I can't stand.)

I have no idea what he meant, though.

This is what I was going to say, and I'll add that when we mess this up I generally take the dishes out of the dish rack where they are drying and put them into the dishwasher, because all evidence I have points to the fact that I don't really have the same cleaning philosophy as my cleaners. They likely didn't use the same soap or implements as I would to clean the dishes, and while I don't care wrt the rest of the house that our cleaning methods might be different, for some reason it icks me out when thinking about tableware.

I understand the other comments, but I'm with you. We used to laugh at my friend, who always had to clean up in his parents' house when the weekly cleaner would come.

On the other side of it, I don't mind the dishes as compared to cleaning the toilet.

I wash the dishes before they come because I know it's not their job. Sure, they'll do it because they're nice, but I always feel I'm imposing on their kindness with things like that.

It's also not their job to make curious little pyramids of our belongings, but that never seems to stop them.

I wish I could hire somebody to deal with my papers: sorting, shredding, recycling, filing.

I don't mind cleaning toilets, but I do mind the paper.
