I think I have a tie for Most Unusual Request at the service desk today, between the woman who wanted me to take a scissors and cut off her hospital wristband and the man who wanted access to plagiarism-detection software to use on his own thesis.

Now here's my Unusual Request for you all: I want a recipe for "Peepza" (dessert pizza involving Peeps).

Actually at Hunter College we're encouraged to have our students submit their papers directly to TurnItIn. Yes, it catches the bad students, but it can (in theory) help a dedicated student ensure they've documented their papers correctly.

Something like this could be a good start: http://www.seriouseats.com/2009/04/how-to-make-smeeps-smores-plus-peeps-easter-candy.html

People need a recipe for that?

Dude, back when I moderated rec.food.recipes people would try to post all sorts of wacky recipes, including things like salad dressing that the "recipe" was "follow the directions on the back".

A roommate of mine in college had an actual cookbook ("Six Ingredients or Less" if I recall correctly) where about half the recipes seemed to be in the "open package, follow label directions" vein.

This deep-dish one is more like marshmallow pie, but I like the sound of this one, with pizza dough and marzipan. Just replace the marshmallows with Peeps and you're good to go!

Nevertheless, if one must... try googling "marshmallow pizza". You find recipes like this:

Plagiarism-detection software? Exactly how does THAT work?

[identity profile] muckefuck.livejournal.com 2009-04-10 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Essentially by scouring likely corpora (a much, much easier job than it used to be thanks to the Internet) for matching strings. As pointed out in Language Log, identical strings of more than five words are exceedingly rare unless they are clichés of some sort or another. If, for instance, an essay on Peoria includes the line "this fort would later burn to the ground", you can be all but certain that the author lifted it from the the relevant Wikipedia article (or from the same source that its author cribbed from).

Depressing story: a friend once had a student plagiarize the friend's own work, in a class which covered plagiarism-detection algorithms.

graham cracker crust

red berry preserves "sauce"

shredded coconut "cheese"

Peeps arranged in pleasing pattern around surface (bunnies would be easier eating, chicks would be more interesting a look)

sprinkle on additional toppings as desired and press lightly into preserves to anchor (easter M&Ms, Whopper robin eggs split in half, fruit bits, etc.)

Roll out the Pillsbury (or store brand) sugar cookie dough on pizza stone and bake.
Cool completely.
Spread a mixture of 1 8oz. block cream cheese and 1/2 cup of sugar.
I would put kiwi slices and strawberries with a wide variety of peeps (in rainbow colors) over the cream cheese mixture.

If you like, you can drizzle with chocolate sauce (because everything is better with chocolate drizzled on it.)

Cut with pizza cutter.

The plagiarism-detection software request just seems to me to be a reasonable thing to do to check if one has used a lot of quotes & want to make sure they're all properly attributed.
