Enforced virtue

Believe it or not, I ate lunch at Café Meinl today and forwent dessert. I also stopped myself at one (1) coffee (which, if you order the kind of coffee drinks I do, sort of counts as a dessert anyway but don't tell anyone). I wish I could credit the sheer force of my own willpower, but really the reason was I was feeling a bit oogie. For a few minutes there, I really thought I was going to hurl, but the nausea passed. Still, no sense taking unnecessary chances.

Quick usage query: The café menu lists an item called Croque Madame. You order it. What do you expect to be served?

Now the discomfort seems to be all in my head. What I mean by that is no more tummy trouble, but I feel woozy and sort of generally unwell--like I did on Friday, but moreso. Oh well; if I am coming down with something vile, at least I've had a damn good run. While everyone around me was being felled with death flus and lingery colds this winter, I never had anything worse than a few sniffles or some unexplained fatigue. Not that I'm eager to be ill--this is a particularly bad time of the work year for it--but I'm willing to accept that my health-related karmic credit may be overdrawn.

Quick cryptic update: For those of you with some idea what [livejournal.com profile] monshu and I were doing taking a day off for a trip out to ForestRiverHillsGlenWestmont, signs are pointing to a date near the end of April. What a relief it will be to have this all behind us!

This. Possibly with two eggs, sunny side up, supposedly representing certain parts of Madame's anatomy.

A ham & swiss sandwich dipped in egg and fried.

I just ask my French boyfriend and he said "that's a stoopid infection". But as he claims to be the "most conservative gourmet" in the world. Doncha is basically right. It's a croque monsieur with a fried egg "sunny side up" (seriously, we only eat fried eggs here that way), as well as using beaten egg to coat the sandwich instead of croque monsieur's bechamel & cheese

Cooked ham and Comte cheese between two slices of bread, dipped in beaten egg and fried in butter.
