i'm not sure how to explain why except for that it's the same reason you say "me dio mucho en que pensar" and not *"lo me dio mucho en que pensar," for example. as i'm not a native speaker (and to be honest my spanish has deteriorated a bit from disuse), i may be mistaken, but compare the hits for "se debe clasificar" or even "se debe clasificar en" to your version.
