Goidelic languages make my eyeballs hurt. I feel that I can kinda-sorta (very slowly, and with a lot of spit) parse out phonetic Welsh, but Irish? Forget it. Scottish gaelic is even worse.

That's about as much effort as you get from me these days! (I did write that long two-part apologia for Irish spelling, however.)

Gàidhlig spelling is essentially identical to pre-reform Irish spelling, so--as I pointed out to puxill--the same apologia works for both. Have a gander.
