Last night, I came across the expression go rabhas in a couple of places but I can't find rabhas in any of my dictionaries. What gives?

Special synthetic verb endings (when they exist) are the rule in Munster Irish. You find them in the other dialects as well but their use is more limited.

If only I'd started with one of the others, who knows how far along I'd be now? But my ancestors are from Cork, so I'm determined to learn Munster Irish or nothing at all.
Also, is it just me or is the suppletion on these basic verbs just weird crazy?

I preferred to learn Munster as well, but between the best self-tuition course available being based on Connemara Irish and the fact that the immersion course of the longest duration happened to be based in An Cheathrú Rua, I became a Connemara-head instead. One of my best friends here is a native speaker from Baile an Mhúraigh in West Kerry. I mock her accent endlessly :)
