Somewhere are other I was reading about this years Championship series being "Back to the Future", with all the teams being ones that were dominant in the 80s and last won their world series title there.
I know back in that time Mets vs. Cards was a big rivalary, one that I don't recall being that strong before or since though...
Oh, but those were my formative years when it came to baseball rivalries. I was explaining to my co-worker the die-hard Cubs fan that I never got the whole Cubs-Cards "rivalry", that as far as I was concerned our only rivalry was with the Mets and she was all like, "The Mets? The Mets suck!" Of course, she was still dirtying diapers the last time the Mets were a force to be reckoned with.
