I thought about starring my recommendations, but obviously they'd be slightly different for each person I know. But it's hard to think of any list that Flann O'Brien and Peter Carey wouldn't be at the top of. A trusted coworker tells me that all of Carey's novel are brilliant in different ways; I'll have a better sense of that after I finished the book of his short fiction I bought. And O'Brien is simply a master.
