Doubling up

I've been waiting all morning for something to post about. Tonight is another friend's birthday so I needed to stay off my pins and rest up. I'm harbouring hopes of going out afterwards, but even my good foot was hurting me after the strain of the work week, so I thought best to stay in with my feet up. And if you're in Chicago, you know how hard this was given the ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS weather outside. Really, I feel like I wake up every morning solely to be mocked by Mother Nature to the point where I wish for nuclear winter.
monshu and I were enjoying a pot of pu-erh (the really good stuff I brought back from China for him) when it dawned on me that this is Double Nine. Since I can't go high, I decided to get high, and tried to figure out what to do with the Koval Honey-Chrysanthemum liqueur. My first thought was to dilute it with 가울국화, but that turned out to have too much character of its own to make a good base. So instead we went the sojutini route. 3:1 (our preferred ratio for the Koval Ginger) was too weak, so we upped it to 2:1. You could even go 1:1 if you like your cocktails sweet. The colour is a lovely green-gold that distills the landscape into a tapered glass.
By now he's well on his way to the smoke shop on Clark. I'll join him shortly on the corner just down from Pasticceria Natalina, where we will pick up something egregiously indulgent before heading to Calo's to tie one on. Later, I plan to see if Tuppers is interested in finding another bar to get himself thrown out of. Tomorrow is all work--laundry, bills, obligatory phone calls. Tonight we celebrate!
