So I was looking at a street the other day called Pasdeloup and it seemed to me that this must mean "passage (or way) of the wolf" rather than "no wolves" but I couldn't think why the latter was unacceptable.
Is it because "wolf" is not a mass noun? Would it have to be Pasdesloups? I kept thinking "pas de fromage" and getting thrown off.
