Married life in most mainstream movies, if depicted at all, is a cartoon, except boring.
What most impressed me about the Firefly show was the depiction of a happily married couple in an action show. Of course, the show still had the stupid "I love you, you love me, but for some reason we'll never get together" plot, but with two of the other characters.
Then the movie came out and Wash died. As much as I liked the character, I was mostly annoyed because they had a dynamic unique to the genre, and then just threw it away.
