Contrast this with Into the Blue, an adequate script competently directed, but well beyond the actors' skills to bring any more life to it. One can imagine the Pareto optimal 2005 film world where the Scarlett Johansson/Ewan McGregor and Jessica Alba/Paul Walker swapped roles in The Island and Into the Blue, leaving the former no worse and vastly improving the latter.
