Sleep binge!

Nuphy, [livejournal.com profile] bunj, and I are off to see Tristan und Isolde tonight and it occurred to me that, if I were to get the most out of it, I'd really need to be better rested than I'm likely to be after a full day's work. Unfortunately, having a day off is liable to encourage me to stay up too late, thus throwing off my sleep schedule and making me feel drowsy even when I've gotten plenty of shuteye. So I made a deliberate effort to get too bed earlier than usual last night and was under the covers by 10:30. I probably went to sleep shortly after.

This morning, every time I woke up, I went right back to sleep. I didn't check the clock or think about errands or do anything to wake myself up further. I finally awoke for the last time at 10:30. Twelve straight hours in bed! I can't remember the last time I ever did that that I wasn't sick to death with some nightmare flu. Even during the last Ring Cycle, I don't think I got so much rest in. Now, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] oh_meow, I'm craving pancakes for Fat Tuesday. I think a jaunt down to Granville may be in order...

Nap time

Eh, I figured those amateurs at the Bananas Foster Café wouldn't be able to satisfy my cravings. Breakfast served until 11 a.m.? Communists! Fortunately I picked that corner because good old reliable Standee's is only three storefronts in from it. Sure, the other place most likely wasn't blasting "Toxic" and didn't have a sad-faced old man collapsed wordlessly on a stool at the corner of the bar. But then, it also didn't have an unemployed Neiman-Marcus salesman giving fashion advice to sweet dowdy waitress.

On the way back, I stopped by the grocery store for caffeine-free tea and left with four boxes of my old standby, Celestial Seasonings. I'm tired of trying out this ethnic crap that (a) tastes like nothing; (b) has caffeine in it even though it's herbal; or (c) both, so I decided to go with what I know and trust. Not right now, though; I think I need something a little peppier to counteract the effects of Standee's Four Deuces.
