I can't disagree. I hosted cocktails and--even though I don't ask for them--I do appreciate RSVPs. I had at least four people tell me they were coming and fail to show up without a word of explanation. NBD, but it's one of the reasons why I keep my gatherings casual rather than ever trying to do something more structured (like a sit-down meal).
