Postscript

Here are two PMs I received four days apart from two different Bears I know personally but not well:
Fuck you. Everyone already hates you; apparently you like to cultivate that. Enjoy your solitude.
Da, I adore you!!! I did even before I actually knew who you were.
Pretty much sums up my experience of the Internet in less than 170 characters.

Yeah, that's my guess. On the couple times I met him, he didn't strike me as overendowed with self-confidence. Still, I thought he could stand being called out on some shitty behaviour (i.e. flouncing) without having a complete meltdown. Oh well.

Who could've been talking to you about me with affection? The mind staggers. You, on the other hand, were a mysterious object of fascination for months before I was finally drawn into your orbit.

A pal of your's in the linguistics department a former friend of mine, you were in classes together and she always mentioned you with a genial smile as one of the newest people to the Major. We were a year a ahead of you, maybe two? It was at least many months after the first mention when she pointed you out and eventually made an introduction - then we ran into each other during various campus things. Or, this is my entirely correctable recollection.

Sounds eminently plausible.

I have a very clear memory of seeing you in the front lines of some campus equality protest and thinking, "That person looks dead interesting." Little did I know how right I would prove to be!

By campus events I meant, campus protests and or political events for equality on campus. : ). I think we first met (as in "HI meet so and so...) at the UCBU office when both of us found ourselves hanging out in the office with our mutual friends whose LJ names I do not know. During and between protests they were the kindest pals you could have and also friends with an upper class man friend of mine (from my house)- so occasionally conversation, beer and hanging out from late my second year through the time I was working at the Book Store and my MA time. But a fellow linguist was the first person to put a name on you and stated how much she loved being in classes with you, before we met. I think I met Owen within a year of meeting you.

Someone who was called out on flouncing retorted with that? Way to live up to the expectation, dude.

It made me feel considerably less bad about my own dickishness in the matter. (Which is not really a good thing.)
